Photo by Marc Wilson MARLETTE — The Marlette football team was unable to produce any offense on Friday night, losing to Elkton-Pigeon- Bay Port Laker 54-0. The Red Raiders were within striking distance late in the first half, trailing 16-0, but Laker scored 16 points in the final two minutes to take a 32-0 lead into halftime.

“It was a rough night for us…it got away from us,” said Marlette head coach Denny Lester. “We struggled tremendously on offense. Their defensive line just dominated the game. We will get back to work this week in practice and look to improve.”

Marlette was outgained 342 to 61 in total yardage in the game. Marcus Armstrong finished 6-of-15 for 73 yards passing. Peyton Davis led the rushing attack with 14 yards on two carries. Brett Havens caught three passes for 62 yards.

Marlette plays on the road next Friday, September 15 against Harbor Beach in a “Touchdowns Against Cancer Game.”
